“You’re fired,” he said, without hesitation.
I blinked. Stunned. My work performance had always been strong, and this trip wasn’t a business event. When I asked why, his answer was chilling: I “wasn’t sociable enough” on vacation. Suddenly, all my achievements felt invisible, replaced by an arbitrary judgment that made no sense.

The company offered me my position back—along with a promotion. The former boss? Placed on indefinite leave pending further action.
